Pure JOY! Today two of my favorite guys...
Pure JOY! Today two of my favorite guys, Ken and our grandson Wesley, let me experience pure JOY.
The back story: Ken and Wesley have been playing it cool. Wesley does not want to push his grandpa too much, and Ken feels like he is viewed as broken. Wesley doesn’t ask Ken to play frisbee, throw or kick a ball, or (their all-time favorite) hunt zombies in the backyard anymore. But today was different. We picked Wesley up as usual on Tuesday. Ken asked if he wanted to kick the soccer ball around when we got home. Wesley’s face: JOY! We get home, and out they go running around the backyard kicking and chasing the ball. Their faces are JOYful. I’m in the kitchen watching, and my heart is full of JOY!
In what is so basic to many, we find JOY! Ken isn’t broken, and our grandson would rather play outside with his grandpa than play a video game — JOY!
EDIT NOTE: They both just came in the house laughing and teasing each other, recounting all the events that just took place. Oh my, the JOY!
